Enzo Mari - Presotto

Enzo Mari

"Beauty moves me, it strikes me to the heart,
but that is not enough for me: I want to understand at all costs how to achieve it."

Enzo Mari, born in Cerano in 1932, is a someone who left an indelible mark on the history of Italian design. A graduate of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in 1952, Mari was a pioneer of avant-garde movements, such as the Arte Cinetica group, where he met Bruno Munari, and Nuova Tendenza, which he coordinated in 1963 and for which he organised the exhibition at the Zagreb Biennale in 1965.

His work, characterised by an artistic and philosophical approach, focuses on the educational and social aspects of design, making him one of the world’s most influential theorists.

In more than 60 years of activity, Mari has collaborated with numerous companies, distinguishing himself by his clean, detail-oriented designs. He received the ADI Compasso d’Oro award five times and chaired the association from 1976 to 1979. His works are exhibited today in the most renowned design museums in the world, from Milan to New York, as tangible evidence of the exceptional legacy of this master.
